With the incredible transformation of the building facilities at the Uconn Health Farmington campus over recent years, this project has the potential to bring a higher level of attention to the landscape - equally worthy of the architecturel quality that has been achieved. Combining the programmatic concepts of memorialization, human wellness, and environmental health, this healthcare system and hospital sought a solution to augment its healing mission with sustainable, land-based elements including a new memorial walk for dedications, a woodland boardwalk, outdoor gathering spaces, and a beautiful, shaded pond-walk for use by the teaching hospital, medical students, staff, patients and their families. 

 

The Concept Plan demonstrates the site’s many assets - specifically within the very limited remaining campus open space - and serves as a document for fundraising to one day realize this vision.
